Shag hairstyles are very popular and creative styles that can be worn in many different ways. The shag hairstyle was introduced by popular musicians throughout the 60’s and 70’s and than later introduced in the 80’s by popular musicians like Rod Stewart, David Bowie and many other celebrities alike. Therefore “The Shag Haircut” was born and has proven to be a hairstyle that will continue to be revived and reintroduced.
As far as medium-length hairstyles go, there are plenty of great looking styles out there to choose from. Most are choppy and spiky/messy looking just like Zacky Vengeance, rhythm guitarist of Avenged Sevenfold.
Here you can see he has a long-ish thinned out fringe with thick sides. The top and back have been cut short and ruffled up. For this I would suggest either gel spray or styling clay finished with hairspray. If your hair isn’t naturally black you could consider dyeing it, or alternatively adding colour to the fringe or sides.
This is a very ‘textured’ style and to add to this effect it may be a good idea to add a darker colour to the underneath parts of the fringe and/or sides. Particularly at the sides as this will make them appear thicker. Blonde on top and black or brown underneath would really stand out with this cut!
